1    Peter Watson welcomed members and introduced speakers, he made mention that it was good to see Amey represented once more at the meeting. He gave the usual housekeeping notices and said that we would break earlier than usual for a festive lunch at 12 noon. Peter also explained that Brian Frost was unable to attend but that he had sent the finance sheets which were available on the front desk if anyone required one – the Group has a healthy surplus of £35,600 to date. He then the asked Dawn to give her report.

2    Dawn spoke of changes in the way in which CSkills would be funding the Group – the grant (as have all grants) has been reduced to £25,200 from £28,000 but said that even more importantly it would now be paid quarterly and would be released depending upon the Group’s business plan targets being met each quarter. This now meant it was essential the all levy paying members returned the quarterly template that she sends out every quarter.

She went on to say that the Group needed new members to make it more robust but that they needed to be levy payers as the Group had its quota of training providers and ‘associated’ members. She asked that members consider who might benefit from within their own supply chain – she just needs a contact name and number and she will do the rest.

Dawn said that she would be working on a bid for some funds from the CSkills M&SDP in order to run a resource efficiency project for MCETG. This depended however if the bid that was being submitted on behalf of the Shropshire Group was successful. She would keep everyone posted.

Dawn also told the Group that further staff cuts were being made at CSkills and that the Midlands would probably lose two Company Development Advisors and many more Apprenticeship Officers.

She closed to say that the membership invoice along with the end of year template would be sent before Christmas and asked again that the template be completed and returned to her. She added that if anyone had news items or good images for the new website could they send them to her.    AP1: Presentation on Group website.
